Regional Data Review (RDR) is a quarterly activity of Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office VII (PSA-RSSO VII) after the conduct of the Provincial Data Review (PDR) in each province. For the 4th Quarter 2018 of RDR round, PSA RSSO VII conducted the activity on 17-21 December 2018 at Golden Peak Hotel and Suites, Cebu City and was participated by the Regional Director (RD), Chief of the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD), Provincial Statistics Officers (PSOs), Regional and Provincial Focal Persons (RFPs/PFPs) for Agricultural Statistics (AgStat). The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office 7 (PSA – RSSO 7) conducted the six-day Second Level Training of the January 2019 Labor Force Survey (LFS) with Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) – Visit 2 as rider survey. It was held at Golden Peak Hotel and Suites located along Gorordo Ave., Cebu City last 16 – 21 December 2018. The training was participated by representatives of the four provinces in the region. It was conducted by Supervising Statistical Specialist Felida O. Generoso of Negros Oriental and Senior Statistical Specialist Myrna Trinidad T. Cataluña of the Regional Office. Central Visayas’ inflation rate further decelerated to 5.3 percent in December 2018. The inflation was higher compared to last year of the same period at 3.0 percent. In the previous month, inflation was posted at 6.0 percent. (Table A). Inflation rate during the month was tenth to highest since January 2014 (Table C). From the result of the July 2018 LFS, Central Visayas has 5,309,000 total population of 15 years old and over wherein 59.7 percent engaged in the Labor Force also known as the Labor Force Participation Rate (Table 1). The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA 7) joins in the regional workshop for the Localization of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) CY 2017-2022 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Region 7. The two-day workshop was a joint effort conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG 7), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA 7) and PSA 7. The activity was conducted at Hotel Elizabeth, Cebu City on 18-19 December 2018. The workshop aims to formulate provincial results matrices (RMs) reflective and/or consistent with the targeted outcomes and results matrices of the Regional Development Plan (RDP) and the PDP and in consideration of the SDGs to ensure vertical linkage of national, regional and local priorities and budgeting of plans, programs and activities (PPAs) that would contribute to the achievement of the RM targets aligned at the various levels. A series of workshops will be conducted in the province in January 2019. It is a rider to the quarterly Labor Force Survey (LFS) for January 2019. The primary objective of this undertaking is to gather data on family income, sources of income, family expenditure and related information affecting family income and expenditure levels and patterns in the Philippines. It determines the income distribution, levels of living and spending patterns and the degree of inequality among families. It will also provide benchmark information to update the weights used in the estimation of Consumer Price Index (CPI); and to provide inputs in the estimation of the country’s poverty threshold and incidence.
