At national level, a total of 613,936 registered deaths were reported for the year 2020. Central Visayas contributed to about 8.2 percent of registered deaths in the country. The economy of Central Visayas recorded a 5.4 percent growth in 2021 compared with the contraction of 9.5 percent in 2020. This was valued at 1.20 trillion pesos in 2021 from 1.13 trillion pesos in 2020 (Figure 1). The main contributors to the 2021 growth were: Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles with 6.1 percent growth rate; Manufacturing with 4.0 percent growth rate; and Professional and Business Services with 8.9 percent growth rate. The Philippine Statistics Authority- Regional Statistical Services Office VII (PSA RSSO VII) announces the release of the 2021 Economic Performance of Central Visayas on 28 April 2022 (Thursday) 10:00 a.m. through face-to-face (selected) at Bai Hotel, Ouano Ave. corner C.D Seno St., Mandaue City and virtual platform through zoom. This will be released through the simultaneous press conferences in seventeen (17) regions spearheaded by the PSA Regional Statistical Services Offices. The Philippine Statistics Authority launches the Philippine Identification System Check (PhilSys ü). It is an offline authentication system developed to verify the QR Code printed at the back of the PhillD card. PhilSysü can be accessed through https://verify.philsys.gov.ph As one of the PhilSys components, the PhillD card shall serve as the official government-issued identification document of cardholders in dealing with all National Government Agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs), Government-owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCCs), Government Financial Institutions (GFls) and all private sector entities. Correspondingly, these relying parties are mandated by law to accept the same for purposes of identification. The PhillD contains essential information about the person's identity, as well as a QR Code which has fingerprint information and other security features as safeguards for data privacy and security. The inflation rate in Central Visayas exhibited a slower pace for March 2022 at 5.0 percent which was lower than the 5.1 percent annual increase in February 2022. This brings the regional average inflation from January to March 2022 at 5.0 percent. In March 2021, inflation was at 1.5 percent. PhilSys Fixed Registration Center of Cebu Province goes Live
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Regional Statistical Services Office VII (RSSO) opens the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Fixed Registration Center (FRC) for the province of Cebu on 21 March 2022 at 3rd floor Gaisano Capital South Bldg. Colon St., Cebu City. The Opening Ceremony was participated by the key officials and staff from PSA Regional and Cebu Provincial Statistical Offices. The Philippine Statistics Authority Central Visayas will be conducting the 2021 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI), one of the designated statistical activities of PSA that generates essential statistics for economic planning and analysis. It is to be conducted nationwide this April 2022. The reference period for the survey will be the year 2021. The inflation rate in Central Visayas for February 2022 further accelerated to 5.1 percent which was higher compared to last year of the same period at 1.1 percent. 1. As of 01 May 2020, Central Visayas has a total population of 8,081,988. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.5 percent or 8,046,285 persons. This is 2.04 million higher than the 6,008,987 household population in 2015, and 1.26 million more than the 6,785,000 household population posted in 2010. (Table A) 2.
