The total volume of fisheries production was estimated at 46.18 metric tons during the second quarter of 2020. This reflects an improvement of 5.22 percent from the previous year’s same quarter output of 43.89 thousand metric tons (Figure 1). Among the fisheries subsectors, volume of production in Commercial and Municipal Fisheries exhibited increments while Aquaculture showed a decline in output (Table 1). The Annual Labor and Employment Estimates for 2019 based on the average of the four (4) LFS rounds (January, April, July and October) reported an annual labor force participation rate of 62.3 percent out of the 5.4 million population in Central Visayas 15 years old and over. The Philippine Statistics Authority is enjoining all agencies of the government, local government units, academic institutions, state universities and colleges, and the private sector at the national and subnational levels to actively participate in and support the 31st National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration this October 2020. Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 647 signed by President Corazon C. Aquino on September 29, 1990 Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month. The NSM is annually observe nationwide. The NSM aims to: (a) promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation on the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and (b) elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country. Central Visayas recorded more than one thousand registered infant deaths in 2018 Infant deaths are deaths that occurred before reaching age 1. At national level 21,019 infant deaths were registered. Central Visayas ranked fourth with 1,540 or 7.3 percent in terms of highest number of registered infant deaths.
