1. Number of constructions declines in 2020 The total number of constructions from approved building permits of Central Visayas for the year 2020 was recorded at 13,499. This number is lower by 31.9 percent from the 19,828 constructions recorded in 2019. (Table A) 2. Residentials had the highest number of constructions By type of construction, residential had the highest number at 8,640 or 64.0 percent of the total number of constructions. Meanwhile, the number of residential constructions posted a 43.7 percent decline from the 15,351 residential constructions reported in 2019. Majority or 93.9 percent of the total residential construction were single-type houses. Construction of residential condominiums posted the least share of 0.01 percent to the total residential construction. The Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office VII personnel attended the Philippine Identification System Step 2 Registration Orientation last 07 May 2021 conducted by the RSSO VII PhilSys team at the PSA - RSSO VII Conference Room. The activity is set to orient the participants of the operational procedures of Step 2 Registration, equip them with the ideas and knowledge to answer the public queries, capacitate them to involve in the implementation of PhilSys, and solicit insights and strategies from them for the success of this historical undertaking. In accordance to health and safety protocol, the orientation was scheduled into two (2) batches to observe social distancing, morning and afternoon sessions. This is also to provide a conducive learning environment where participants are able to grasp the discussions. Similarly, with less participants, the trainers are able to address the queries accordingly. The Philippine Statistics Authority conducted the 2021 HR Summit on 22-23 February 2021 via online platform hosted by Philippine Statistics Authority – Central Office and with a theme “Adapting Together Through Stronger Human Resource Development”. This was participated by the Regional Directors, Division Chiefs, Provincial Heads, HR personnel and some key officials of the Field Offices all over the Philippines. This activity aims to increase productivity, build manpower abilities, and evaluate employee’s performances. Personnel from Civil Service Commission was also invited to give some updates on the rules and regulation and other HR matters. During the activity, the newly appointed Deputy National Statistician of Civil Registration and Central Support Office (CRCSO) Mr. Leo B. Malagar was introduced by the National Statistician and Civil Registrar Usec. Dennis S. Mapa. In the opening remarks of Usec. Mapa, he asserted the objectives to harmonize the new functions of the PSA. He emphasized that the human resource development must take proactively in assessing the various divisions to answer the new call and assess duplication of functions to be able to know the right size of the PSA and basis on the number of hiring of COSWs. He added that the office should have a strong recruitment procedure and strategies to get the right person for the agency. PSA 7 prepares for the 2020 RAP News Conference
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is set to release the 2020 Regional Accounts of the Philippines on 29 April 2021 (Thursday) at 10:00 AM through a simultaneous virtual press conference for all the different PSA Regional Statistical Services Offices. As part of the preparation, Central Visayas together with other sixteen (16) Regions participated in the 2020 Regional Accounts of the Philippines (RAP): Virtual Compilation and Finalization Workshop on 12 to 16 and 19 to 23 April 2021. Present during the said workshop were Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) of Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD), Supervising Statistical Specialist, two (2) Technical Support Staff, and two (2) Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) COSWs. Central Visayas Economic Performance declines by 9.9 percent in 2020
Philippine Statistics Authority Region 7 (PSA 7) Regional Director Ariel Florendo said that the economic performance of Central Visayas declined by 9.9 percent in 2020. This was reported on the release of the 2020 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and Gross Regional Domestic Expenditure (GRDE) of Central Visayas at a news conference held by PSA 7 on 29 April 2021. Moment to Unleash Juana’s Innate Talent
Philippines Statistics Authority- Regional Services Office VII took part in the annual celebration for women held every month of March. Last March 31, 2021 the agency actively organized a culminating activity to end the month-long celebration. The activity was held at PSA-RSSO VII Office in coordination with the CRS Outlet. This year’s celebration focused on the theme: We Make CHANGE Work for Women. The PSA-RSSO VII had managed to show support on the celebration by giving time to all Juanas around the agency to unleash their talent. The agency had various activities that could help the Juanas to boost and show their unseen capability. The activity was formally open by the Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA-RSSO VII Mr. Leopoldo Alfanta Jr. CSS Alfanta gave his opening remarks with inspiring words empowering the women. His message, contained with high respect towards women, and leads him to relate it into his own personal experience as a father, a husband, and a co-worker. CSS Alfanta talked about empowering and acknowledging the achievements as well as contribution of women in the society. PSA 7 holds Briefing-Workshop with Stakeholders towards the Compilation of Provincial Product Account
Central Visayas is chosen as one of the three pilot regions to implement the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) starting 2021. To mark its first step, the PSA Region 7 conducted a briefing/workshop with stakeholders towards the compilation of the Provincial Product Account on 29-30 March 2021. It was a blended-type of workshop wherein some participants were present at the provincial venue while others were through virtual. A total of 193 participants attended the briefing/workshop. It was the PPA Briefing/Workshop with the most number of participants among the three pilot regions. Engr. Ariel Florendo, Regional Director of PSA 7, opened his message expressing his gratitude to all participants who attended the briefing/workshop despite the pandemic. He mentioned how this PPA will answer the clamour for data disaggregation in the provincial level. He also believed that with collective efforts and shared information, we can overcome any challenges and move the region forward. SOCD undertakes the 1st Quarter Performance Review and Workshop on Workload Analysis
Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office 7 conducted the 1st Quarter Statistical Operations and Coordinations Division Performance Review and Workshop on Workload Analysis on 23 to 24 March 2021 at Cebu City. It was participated by all regular SOCD personnel and three (3) Contract of Service Worker (COSW). The objective of this workshop is to determine the Workload and personnel complement of division. It also aims to evaluate the performance of the 2021 1st quarter, whether all the targets were met; prepare a catch-up plan for unmet targets, and address issues or concerns. CRASD’s 1st Quarter Performance Review and Workshop on Workload Analysis
In view of the letter-advisory received from the Human Resource Division-Central Office with Reference No. 21FAS02-ADV-03-06 dated 08 March 2021 relative to the submission of the workload analysis and personnel complement reports, Civil Registration & Administrative Division (CRASD) of PSA-RSSO VII conducted its 2021 1st Quarter Performance Review and Workshop on Workload Analysis last March 18-19, 2021 held at Golden Prince Hotel. The purpose of the activity was to determine the performances of each unit during the 1st quarter of 2021 and be able to determine the right size of manpower for the operating units. PSA Central Visayas participates in the Task Force Training on Scanning of Post Census Maps
The Philippine Statistics Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office 7 (PSA – RSSO 7) participates in the conduct of the Task Force Training on Scanning of Post-Census maps from the conduct of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH). It was a two-day training conducted last 18 – 19 March 2021. On the first day of the training ANS Florante Varona gave a short briefer on the importance and relevance of the scanning operation as to the whole census operation. Immediately after his message follows the discussion of the Scanning Center Operation of the Regional Office. Map Scan Operators (MSOs) were hired by the office to smoothly conduct the scanning activity of the whole Region. For Region 7, two MSOs were hired, they were Mr. Jonard Cosmo and Ms. Jocery Ilaran. Livestock and Poultry Regional and Provincial Focal Persons immerse virtually for the conduct of 2021 Operational Training
The Livestock and Poultry Stastistics Division (LPSD) under the Economic Sector Statistics Service of the Philippine Statistics Authority (ESSS) initiated the conduct of the 2021 Operational Training for Livestock and Poultry Surveys. The first level training or Task Force Training was conducted last 22-24 February 2021. The purpose of this undertaking is to capacitate L&P Regional Focal Persons with regards to the concepts and definitions, survey operations, processing systems and other arising matters relative to the conduct of the L&P surveys.
