Inflation in Central Visayas for May 2020 continued to move at a slower rate of 2.2 percent which was slower than the 2.4 percent annual increase in April 2020. Number of constructions drop by 2.8 percent in 2019 The total number of constructions from approved building permits issued by the Local Building Officials (LBOs) for the year 2019 reached 19,826. This number is lower by 2.8 percent from the 20,397 constructions recorded in 2018. (Table A) By type of construction, residential had the highest number at 15,350 or 77.4 percent of the total number of constructions. The number of residential constructions posted an 8.8 percent decrease from the 16,831 residential constructions reported in 2018. Central Visayas Regional/ Provincial L&P Focal Persons immerse for 2nd Level Training
The Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) Focal Person and Provincial Focal Persons together with the Livestock and Poultry Statistics Division (LPSD) immersed for the 2nd Level Training for Operational Training on Livestock and Poultry (L&P) Surveys on 10-12 March 2020 at One Central Hotel, Cebu City. Among the participants were the L&P Provincial Focal/Assistant Focal Persons and selected Regional staff. Two (2) representatives from LPSD also served as trainers, aside from the regional representatives during the task force training. The region’s population remains relatively young as shown by the broad-based population pyramid in 2015. Median age was recorded at 24 years old. In 2015, the region’s total population was projected at 7.4 million, of which more than half (50.5) were men. Same trend was seen in all provinces. QSPBI/SICT Respondent’s Forum in Central Visayas
The Quarterly Survey on Philippine Business and Industry (QSPBI) is one of the designated statistical activities of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). It provides quarterly data on employment, compensation, revenue/sales and inventory for national accounts estimation. Relatedly, it aims to capture, collect and generate data for all the sectors of the economy except in agriculture sector. The survey is one of the main sources of data in the compilation of the Quarterly National Accounts (QNA) and in the construction of the Quarterly Economic Indicators (QEI) of the PSA. In 2019, fisheries production improved by 2.80 percent. Total volume of production was estimated at 155.88 thousand metric tons, higher than the 151.63 thousand metric tons reported a year ago. Of the three subsectors, outputs from Municipal Fisheries and Aquaculture went up by 6.45 percent and 4.34 percent, respectively.
