As of 6:00am in February 1, 2019 the province’s household rice and corn stock increased to 35,010 metric tons from 32,004 metric tons last January 1, 2018 level.

As of the 6:00am survey conducted in February 1, results show that rice stocks remain the major bulk of the stocks. Its stock volume decreased 4.19 per cent compared to the previous month’s level which was at 23,106 metric tons. This is due to the lesser harvest area of palay in the province prior to the survey time.

Higher level of rice stocks at 18.43 per cent was noted over the same period last year due to more household retentions in preparation of the incoming lean months this year.

Corn stocks (in terms of corn grains) rose 44.65 per cent to 12,871 metric tons from the previous months’ high of 8,898 metric tons due to increase in area harvested prior to the survey period.

Compared to same period last year 2018, corn stocks level is 116.66 per cent elevated due to more area harvested this year.

The figures were the result of the Palay and Corn Stocks Survey 1 (PCSS1), conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in the province. The monthly survey on farming and non-farming household stocks level intends to generate estimates of the current stocks of rice and corn and is conducted in the first four (4) days of the month with the 1st day of the month as the reference period.
