Negros Oriental is third in rank
Negros Oriental ranked third in Region VII in the total number of live births by usual residence of the mother during the fourth quarter of 2020. There were 2,852 registered live births in the Negros Oriental during October to December which translated to 10.30 percent to the total registered live births of Central Visayas during the reference quarter. This figure is lowest compared with the preliminary reports during the preceding three quarters of 2020 (Figure 1).
Lesser Registered Live Births
The preliminary counts of the number of registered live births by usual residence of mother during the period dropped by -53.13 percent from 6,085 record in 2019. Both November and December reported less than a thousand birth registrations with only 740 registrations and 947 registrations, respectively (Figure 2).
Dumaguete City has the highest occurrence of births
Most live births in the province, 9.92 percent (283 births) were registered in Dumaguete City. This was followed closely by City of Bayawan (253 births). Third in rank is Bais City (196births). Both Santa Catalina (193 births) and Siaton (193) are placed in fourth rank (Figure 3).
There are 31 births per day
During the fourth quarter of 2020, there were 31 babies born daily in the province. All cities and municipalities of the province recorded a decrease in the birth registration during the reference quarter compared to the same period in 2019. (Figure 4).
Twenty two deaths per day
Negros Oriental ranked third in Region VII in the total number of deaths registered by usual residence of deceased during the fourth quarter in 2020. There were 1,441 registered deaths in the Negros Oriental which translated to 17.37 percent to the total registered deaths of the region during the reference quarter. This figure is lowest compared with the preliminary reports during the preceding three quarters of 2020. This translated to 16 deaths per day (Figure 5).
Less deaths in November
The preliminary counts of the number of registered deaths during the period reached 1,441. The lowest registration for the quarter was in the month of November with 186 registered deaths (Figure 6).
More deaths in Dumaguete City
Dumaguete City with 213 deaths showed the highest registered deaths during the reference period. This is followed by the City of Bayawan (108 deaths), City of Tanjay (90 deaths), Bais City (83 deaths), and City of Guihulngan (81 deaths) (Figure 7).
Negros Oriental ranked third in the total number of marriages
Negros Oriental is placed third in Region 7 in the total number of registered marriages in the fourth quarter in 2020.
There were 796 registered marriages in the province which translated to 15.96 percent to the total registered marriages of Central Visayas during the fourth quarter of 2020 (Figure 8).
Most registered marriages happened in the City of Dumaguete
City of Dumaguete recorded the highest number of registered marriages of 91, which is 11.43 percent of the total marriages in Negros Oriental in the fourth quarter of 2020. This was followed closely by City of Guihulngan and Mabinay with 83 marriages and 80 marriages, respectively. The least number of marriages during the period was recorded in the municipality of Basay with only 6 registered marriages or 0.75 percent.
