Philippine Statistics Authority, Siquijor Provincial Statistical Office (PSA-Siquijor PSO) conducted PhilSys Step 2 Registration during the 44th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week Celebration on 17 August 2022 at Lazi Social Center, Tigbawan, Lazi Siquijor. In line with the theme “Working with Government in achieving equal access to Education, Employment and Livelihood towards Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities,” one (1) registration kit was deployed to administer the registration of Special Education (SPED) learners including their accompanying parents and guardians.
Relative to this year’s celebration, the PhilSys Registration Team (PRT) catered children with disabilities by registering to PhilSys, recognizing the benefits it brings to the lives of the children including access to education, healthcare and social services. The activity was made possible through the collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), Division of Siquijor and other provincial line agencies, putting in place measures to mitigate the risks of contacting COVID-19.
A total of six (6) children with disabilities and their parents had successfully completed Step 2 Registration or the capturing demographic data and a complete set of biometric information such as fingerprints, iris scans, and a front-facing photograph of the target registrants five (5) years old and over. They have also aided in intensifying information education campaign (IEC) through giving out of flyers and answered inquiries on PhilSys.
