The Province of Siquijor recorded an increase of 5.9 percent in April of 2022. This was 1.5 percent higher in March 2022 with an inflation of 4.4 percent. The inflation in April 2021 was registered at 3.2 percent. The first four months of the year for the province had an average inflation of 4.9 percent. SIQUIJOR FISHERIES PRODUCTION IN 4th QUARTER 2021 (Results from the Fisheries Production Survey 4th Quarter 2021) Fisheries Volume of Production in Siquijor decrease by 12.40 percent The overall fisheries volume of production in Siquijor went down by 11.91 percent in 4th quarter 2021. This year’s declined production was attributed to marine municipal fisheries which posted at 449.52 metric tons, lower than its output in 4th quarter 2020 of 510.33 metric tons. Meanwhile, no commercial and inland fishing activity in the province but aquaculture showed increased production by 179.02 percent which translate from 1.31 metric tons in 2020 to 3.64 metric tons in 2021. Freshwater fishpond recorded an increase in production by 12.50 percent from 0.16 metric tons in the 2020 4th quarter to 0.18 metric tons in the 2021 4th quarter while seaweed got 141.19 percent increased from 0.64 metric tons in the 2020 4th quarter to 1.55 metric tons in the 2021 4th quarter. Highlights of the Population of the Municipality of Siquijor in Siquijor Province, 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH) As of 01 May 2020, the population of the municipality of Siquijor, including Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates and missions abroad is 28,915 persons based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH). The population for 2020 has increased by 2,054 persons from the population of 26,061 in 2015. It is also more than 3,684 compared with the population of 25,231 in the 2010 Census of Population and Housing. OTHER CROPS SITUATIONER 2021 The estimated total production of other crops in the province of Siquijor was at 30,047.01 metric tons in 2021. Fruits sector shared the biggest contribution at 53.64 percent or 16,117.43 metric tons. It was followed by Non-Food and Industrial Crops sector with a production share of 33.95 percent or 10,199.35 metric tons. Recorded deaths between the years 2020-2021 rose in number The year 2021 recorded 1,145 death occurrences, which is 328 deaths higher than the year 2020. COVID-19 pandemic that hit early 2020’s contributed to the number of recorded deaths although this was not the immediate cause of death but a life threatening concern that may lead to death.
