Negros Oriental Non-Food Industrial Commercial Crops Farm

Gate Price Q1 2021

Sixty percent of Negros Oriental Non-Food Industrial Commercial Commodities posted higher average farm gate price this first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020.

Abaca raw fiber average farm gate price for the current quarter declined 12.68 percent lower than the previous years’ same period average farm gate price of Php57.01. Less demand from pulp processors sourcing from the province caused the price decline.

Coffee Robusta dry beans also dropped Php13.54 per kilo from its previous years recorded average farm gate price due to more production this year compared to the same period last year.

Coconut young buko, due to increasing demand posted a 48.10 percent increase in average farm gate price this 1st quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. This quarters current price runs Php3.08 per kilo higher than last years’ price of Php9.49 per kilo. Coconut mature nuts per kilo had the leanest price improvement of 1.86 percent due to lean demand of the commodity over the period.

Copra fresh recorded the highest price increment of 92.34 percent due to expanding demand from traders. Average farm gate price this quarter this year was Php7.55 per kilo higher than last year same period quarterly average farm gate price.

These figures were the result of the Farm Prices Survey (FPS) is a monthly national survey that gathers data on farm gate or producers’ prices received for their produce at the first point of sale less transport or delivery expenses. Respondents of this survey are farmers, raisers and traders of selected commodities monitored in the province.
