PSA CEBU Launches the 2025 Family Income and Expenditure Survey Visit 1

The Philippine Statistics Authority – Cebu Provincial Statistical Office (PSA Cebu) officially begins the nationwide conduct of the 2025 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) Visit 1. The 2025 FIES will be a rider survey to the July 2025 Labor Force Survey (LFS).

The 2025 FIES is one of the most comprehensive household-based surveys conducted by PSA and aims to gather the following objectives:

  1. To gather data on family income, sources of income, family expenditures, and related information affecting family income and expenditure levels and patterns in the province;

  2. To determine the income distribution, levels of living, spending patterns, and the degree of inequality among families;

  3. To provide inputs in the estimation of the province’s poverty threshold and incidence; and

  4. To provide benchmark information to update the weights used in the estimation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

In Cebu, over 6,000 randomly selected sample households spread across 189 barangays in three Highly Urbanized Cities (Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Mandaue City), six component cities, and 29 municipalities will be interviewed by 225 trained and authorized PSA personnel from July 8 to July 31, 2025. The data collection will be conducted in two visits, with the second round scheduled in January 2026, to cover the full calendar year reference period.

PSA Cebu assures the public that all information provided will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for statistical purposes only, in accordance with Republic Act No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013.

In line with this, PSA Cebu appeals to the cooperation of every Cebuano, especially the selected sample households, and encourages them to provide complete and truthful information.

The PSA reminds the public to always ask for the official ID and authorization letter of the enumerators and to report any suspicious activity related to the survey to the nearest PSA office.

With the 2025 FIES, the PSA continues to play a critical role in helping the government and stakeholders design and implement responsive programs geared toward poverty reduction and inclusive growth.
