19 January 2022 – SIQUIJOR. The Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) of Siquijor Province conducted the First Quarter Meeting for CY 2022 on 19 January 2022 held at Coco Grove Beach Resort. The meeting was a hybrid format wherein some PSC members attended virtually while others attended physically with strict observance to minimum health standards. The quarterly conduct of the meeting is in recognition of the vital role of PSC as the policymaking body on statistical matters at the provincial level. Furthermore, it served as venue for discussion and resolution of statistical issues as a coordination mechanism in providing direction and guidance to local statistical development activities.

Engr. Jason D. Manos, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator and PSC Chairperson, welcomed the participants and provided brief background of the creation of the PSC. He thanked all the member agencies who were able to attend physically and virtually. He also acknowledged the presence of the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators from LGU Larena, Lazi, Maria, San Juan and Siquijor to discuss and plan out the conduct of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) for the province of Siquijor.

The PSC First Quarter Meeting discussed the following agenda;

  • PhilSys Updates

  • Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) Updates

  • Civil Registration Month Activities

  • PSC Resolutions for Approval, Series of 2022, to wit:

  • Resolution 01 – Enjoining the Provincial Government Agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs), 

  • Academe and the Private Sector to assist and support the conduct of Community-Based 

  • Monitoring System (CBMS) in the Province of Siquijor.

  • Resolution 02 – Enjoining the Provincial Government Agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs), 

  • Academe and the Private Sector to fully support the conduct of 2021 Family Income and 

  • Expenditure Survey (FIES) – Second Visit of the Philippine Statistics Authority.

  • Resolution 03 – Enjoining the Provincial Government Agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs), 

  • Academe and the Private Sector to fully support the 32ND Civil Registration Month Celebration.

  • Resolution 04 - Enjoining the Provincial Government Agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs), 

  • Academe and the Private Sector to adopt and use the 2019 Updates to the 2009 Philippine 

  • Standard Industrial Classification.

  • Resolution 05 – Endorsing the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) as additional member of the 

  • Provincial Statistics Committee.

  • Resolution 06 - Enjoining the Provincial Government Agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs), Academe and the Private Sector to fully support the conduct of Women and ICT Development 

  • Index Survey (WIDI) of the Philippine Statistics Authority.

  • Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS).

In her presentation of PhilSys updates, Chief Statistical Specialist Aurelia M. Canda, PSC Vice-Chairperson, highlighted the PhilSys accomplishments for 2021 and the number of registered person by municipality in the province of Siquijor. She also discussed the way forward for PhilSys and the registration workload by 2022.

 

Registration Officer II Rizalyn Teodora G. Postrado discussed the brief background about PSA, Statistical Services and Civil Registration Services. She highlighted the upcoming activities for the Civil Registration Month Celebration this coming February 2022 with the theme, “Improving Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Implementation Strategies through Digital Transformation”. The Civil Registration Month celebration is conducted every month of February pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 682 signed on 28 January 1991 by former President Corazon C. Aquino.

Engr. Joselito C. Maghanoy, Supervising Statistical Specialist of PSA and PSC Secretary, provided comprehensive discussion on Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS). His discussion on CBMS Budget Calculator details cost breakdown and budgetary requirements of every LGU depending on the Socio-Economic Profile of the Municipality. The MPDC of each LGU was able to share updates on the budget allocation for CBMS. CBMS is pursuant to Republic Act No. 11315, otherwise known as the Community-Based Monitoring System Act approved on 17 April 2019.
