Since the start of 2025, the National ID Registration Team of the Philippine Statistics Authority – Siquijor Provincial Office has been diligently working to ensure that octogenarians and nonagenarians across the province are successfully registered. This initiative is part of a broader effort to provide these senior citizens with the benefits and recognition they deserve. The team has been traveling to various communities, conducting PhilSys-on-Wheels Registration, and assisting elderly individuals with the necessary documentation and procedures. The dedication and commitment of the team members have been instrumental in making this process as smooth and efficient as possible.

One of the key challenges the team have faced is ensuring that the registration process is accessible and convenient for the elderly citizens. Many of them have mobility issues or live in remote areas, making it difficult for them to visit registration centers. To address this, the team have implemented mobile registration units that travel to these locations, bringing the registration process directly to their doorsteps. In many cases, the team have visited the homes of these seniors, as most of them are no longer able to walk and are fragile.

This means that the registration will be conducted not only at the registrants' houses but also in their respective rooms. Additionally, they have partnered with local organizations and volunteers to provide support and assistance to those who need it. As a result, they have already registered 12 seniors, aged 80 to 98, from the barangays of Napo, Solangon, Paliton, and Catulayan in the municipality of San Juan.

The impact of their efforts has been profound. By registering octogenarians and nonagenarians, the team are not only providing them with a sense of identity and belonging but also ensuring that they have access to essential services and benefits. This includes healthcare, social security, and other government programs designed to support their well-being. The positive feedback the National ID Registration team and the Philippine Statistics Authority, in general, have received from elderly citizens and their families has been incredibly rewarding and motivates them to continue their work with even greater determination. As they move forward, they remain committed to reaching every eligible senior citizen and making the registration process as seamless and inclusive as possible.
