Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office Region 7 undertakes Environmental-Economic Accounting through the blended conduct of the Appreciation Training on the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) on 21 to 23 February. The venue of the face-to-face training was held at Golden Prince Hotel and Suites, Acacia Street, Cebu City. This was attended and facilitated by the PSA Central Office personnel specifically from the Macroeconomic Accounts Service (MAS), Environment and Natural Resources Account Division (ENRAD). Also, sharing of experiences from PSA RSSO Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR) and PSA Caraga as the regions who have conducted the Mineral Accounting.

Meanwhile, PSA 7 will have the accounting starting this year. The three-day training workshop was participated by the Office of the National Statistician (ONS), Regional Line Agencies (RLAs) specifically from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and its attached Bureaus like the Mine and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Environment and Management Bureau (EMB), from the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Cebu City, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENROs), City Environment and Natural Resources (CENROs), from Philippine Fiber Industry Authority (PHILFIDA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD), the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and National Irrigation Administration (NIA). A total of 120 participants were present in the training-workshop which composed of 50 face-to-face and 70 online attendees.

Chief Statistical Specialist, Virginia M. Bathan, introduced the Environmental Accounting using the 2012 SEEA Central Framework and its subsystem. The framework explains the interactions between the economy and environment and the training aims to capacitate the participating regional and provincial staff on the compilation of the environmental-economic accounts.

The three-day training was incorporated by a workshop that was done by all the physical attendees and discussed the output to the group. All agencies participated and shared their data collection and mandates. An open forum was done after the presentation for better understanding of the objectives of the training/workshop.
