Lazi, Siquijor, 30 April 2024. The 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN)-Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Coordinating Board of the Local Government Unit of Lazi in the province of Siquijor convened last 30 April 2024 at SB Session Hall, Tigbawan, Lazi, Siquijor in preparation for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS operation in the said municipality.
Prior to the convening proper, Hon. Phil Moore D. Largo, the municipal mayor issued Executive Order No. 16, Series of 2024, an order organizing the Lazi Municipal POPCEN-CBMS Coordinating Board and defining the composition and functions of the council members.
The honorable mayor presided the convening together with the local officials of LGU Lazi expressed their strong support and participation for the simultaneous conduct of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS, highlighting its potential to improve local governance through precise data-driven insights. The data to be gathered will aid in updating population, refining social protection program beneficiaries, preparing for future elections, enhancing the distribution of shares of Local Government Units in the National Tax Allocation (NTA), and it will also aid in the implementation of the Automatic Income Classification of Local Government Units.
The convening was attended by Engr. Johanes Paulus V. Jumadla, MPDC as the lead core team of the POPCEN-CBMS and department heads and representatives from the different departments such as LCR, MSWD, Budget Division, RHU, DRRM, MAO, ME, and LGOO. Representatives from the Department of Education and the private sector were also present.
During the convening, Supervising Statistical Specialist/Officer-In-Charge Engr. Joselito C. Maghanoy provided an overview of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS rollout, emphasizing the importance of cooperation among all board members. He outlined the objectives, legal bases, rationale, scope and coverage, reference date and enumeration period of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS, ensuring that all collected data would comply with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and other relevant legislation.
This undertaking is set to begin in July and will continue until September 2024. Additionally, training sessions for Census Area Supervisors (CAS), Team Supervisors (TS) and Enumerators (EN) are scheduled to ensure efficient and affective data collection and, most importantly, secure handling of data.
The convening of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS Municipal Coordinating Board in the Municipality of Lazi is a major step toward encouraging data-driven growth and improving the provision of local government ser vices. Through the use of the CBMS, the municipality hopes to promote sustainable development and improve the quality of life for its constituents by providing accurate and thorough data.
