The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA 7) was invited  by the Regional Center of Expertise of Education for Sustainable Development (RCE-Cebu) and Collaboration for Development and Humanitarian Action (Collab4Dev) to talk about its initiatives in the attainment of the SDGs in the region. SrSS Felixberto M. Sato, Jr. attended the 4th SDG dialogue with the different NGOs/CSOs last 27 November 2019 at the Filipiniana Room, Cebu Archbishop’s Palace, Cebu City.

The series of dialogues, “From Global to Local, Local to Global: SDG Presentation in Cebu’s Landscape”, intend to provide a voluntary review of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level while working at concrete solutions to specific problems making possible the sharing of experiences, including successes, challenges and solutions. In addition, these dialogues also intends to foster the creation of local dialogue networks that promote social cohesion and cooperation aimed at exploring what transformation actions were taken, building upon lessons learned, and calling for increased data-driven assessment and monitoring.

SrSS Sato presented to the NGOs/CSOs about the initial study of the PSA Cental Office to engage NGOs/CSOs in contributing to the data gaps in the Philippine SDGs. The project “Enabling the Use of Citizen-Generated Data in Sustainable Development Goals Official Monitoring in the Philippines”, is a PSA-PARIS21 Project. The project is aimed at coming a comprehensive SDG data availability assessment and prioritization mechanism of data gaps to have data disaggregation. It focuses on the vulnerable and affected groups and their location; it also addressed the growing need for more timely statistics; and a multi-stakeholder approach in planning multi-stakeholder approach in program implementation and monitoring.
