With the continuous implementation of the PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP), more and more Siquijodnons have benefited from the project, particularly those in marginalized communities and those living outside their place of birth.
The Department of Education has also provided a list of students whose births have not been recorded, and as of this month, more parents are going to the mobile registration site to register their kids.
PBRAP and the local government unit, through the Municipal Civil Registrars, have urged Siquijodnons, especially the senior citizens, to make sure that their births are registered. To date, the oldest person we have registered is 95 years old from the Municipality of Lazi, Siquijor.
As of April 30, 2023, we have sent a total of 734 names for verification. Out of this number, a total of 649 have been verified to have no birth records, and 85 have been verified to have records in the PSA database.
A total of 263 individuals have been registered, and a number of owner’s copies of the Certificate of Live Births have been distributed to the Siquijodnons whose births were registered through PBRAP.
