Recent data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority Bohol Provincial Office on Poverty Statistics showed that Poverty Incidence for the province of Bohol among families showed a decrease of 4.8 percent from 25.9 percent in 2015 to 21.1 percent in the first semester of 2018. This means that two families in every ten families did not meet their basic food and non-food needs in the first semester of 2018. On the other hand, Poverty Incidence among Boholano individuals is 26 percent. This figure declined by 5 percent compared to the 2015 level of 31.3 percent.

In the same period, the minimum monthly average income/expenditure required for a family of five to meet the basic food and non-food requirements, also known as the Poverty Threshold, is pegged at Php 12,613.00. The same family with the same number of persons would need Php 8,796.00 to satisfy food or nutritional requirements needed to be able to do certain activities that are socially desirable and economically necessary. Eight out of every one hundred families and 10.3 percent of individuals in the province did not have sufficient income to meet their basic food needs. The number of individuals was 2.9 percent lower compared to 13.2 percent in 2015.

These statistical data were generated from the 2018 Family Income and Expenditures Survey-First Visit and the monthly Consumer Price Index Survey, two of the many surveys of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
