The total chicken egg production of Central Visayas from July to September 2022 was estimated at 19.14 thousand metric tons. This showed a slow growth of 3.8 percent from 37.1 percent than the previous year’s same quarter production of 18.43 thousand metric tons. (Fig. 1 & Fig. 2 and Table 1)
Among the regions, CALABARZON was the top producer of chicken egg during the quarter with a production of 54.62 thousand metric tons. This was followed by Central Luzon with 33.97 thousand metric tons and Central Visayas with 19.14 thousand metric tons. These three regions accounted for 60.9 percent of the country’s total chicken egg production. (Figure 1 and Table 1)
In terms of total production, Central Visayas posted a 10.8 percent share to the total country’s production. This ranked the region as the 3rd top producer of Chicken egg. Meanwhile, BARMM, CAR and Eastern Visayas were among regions that posted with the lowest production at 0.79 thousand metric tons or 0.4 percent share, 1.16 thousand metric tons or 0.7 percent share, and 2.07 thousand metric tons or 1.2 percent share, respectively. Completing the bottom five regions, MIMAROPA and Caraga regions posted 2.40 thousand metric tons or 1.4 percent share and 2.83 thousand metric tons or 1.6 percent share, respectively. These five regions comprised 5.3 percent share of the country’s total chicken egg production. (Figure 3 and Table 1)
The region’s total chicken laying flock inventory as of 30 September 2022 was estimated at 6.52 million birds. This indicates a decrease of 16.6 percent from its level of 7.81 million birds in the same period of the previous year. The same trend was observed to native/improved chicken and layer chicken that showed a decrease from 2.27 million birds to 2.06 million birds, and from 5.55 million birds to 4.46 million birds, respectively. Of the region’s total laying flock as of 30 September 2022, 68.4 percent were of layer chicken while the remaining 31.6 percent were native/improved chicken. (Figure 5 and Table 2)
