The total chicken production of Central Visayas from July to September 2022 was estimated at 32.48 thousand metric tons, liveweight. This was 36.2 percent higher than the previous year’s same quarter production of 23.85 thousand metric tons. (Fig. 1 & Fig. 2 and Table 1)

 

Among the regions, Central Luzon was the top producer of chicken during the quarter with 145.21 thousand metric tons, liveweight. This was followed by CALABARZON with 69.45 thousand metric tons, liveweight, and Northern Mindanao with 42.65 thousand metric tons, liveweight. These three regions shared 56.7 percent to the country’s total chicken production. (Figure 1 and Table 1)

 

In terms of total production, Central Luzon accounted the highest percent share of 32.0 while the region’s percent share was reported at 7.1 percent to the country’s total chicken production. Meanwhile, BARMM and NCR accounted with the lowest percent shares at 0.2 percent and 0.0 percent of the country’s total chicken production. (Fig.3 and Table 1)

 

Among the top five producing regions were CALABARZON, 15.3 percent share, Northern Mindanao, 9.4 percent share, and Western Visayas, 7.6 percent share. These five regions constituted 71.4 percent share of the country’s total chicken production.

As of 30 September 2022, Central Visayas’ total chicken inventory was estimated at 19.99 million birds. (Figure 4 and Table 2)

 

By chicken type, Native/Improved Chicken of the region posted highest inventory of 8.91 million birds followed by Broiler and Layer Chicken at 7.04 and 4.05 million birds, respectively. (Figure 4 and Tables 2 and 3)

By chicken type and classification, native/improved chicken were mostly raised by smallhold farms accounted 8.09 million birds, while bulk of broiler chicken and layer chicken stocks came from commercial farms at 7.00 million birds and 3.74 million birds, respectively. (Figure 4 and Tables 2 and 3)

 

In terms of distribution by classification, the region’s total chicken inventory was raised by Commercial farms at 53.69 percent followed by Smallhold farms at 41.11 percent and Semi-commercial farms at 5.20 percent. (Figure 5)
