Republic Act No. 11055, also called the Philippine Identification System Act, seeks to create a unified national ID system covering all citizens. Enacted by former President Rodrigo R. Duterte, this legislation assigns the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as the agency responsible for implementing the PhilSys. The PSA is tasked with ensuring comprehensive registration of all individuals into the PhilSys.
In the recent report published on March 31, 2024, by the Monitoring and Evaluation Division of the PhilSys Registry Office (PRO), a sum of 92,404 residents of Siquijor have been registered under PhilSys. The report further states that out of the total registered individuals, 91,405 have been allocated PhilSys numbers, with 51,132 PhilID cards and 72,472 ePhilIDs distributed to all residents of Siquijor.
This data highlights the government’s commitment to delivering efficient and easily accessible identification services to its citizens.
