The Supervising Statistical Specialist of PSA-Cebu Province attended the Supervisory Development Course (Track 1) Seminar/Workshop conducted on May 20-24.2019 at Civil Service Commission Region VII, National Government Center, Sudlon, Cebu City. It was a four-day training catering to the supervisors and would be supervisors assigned to various government agencies in Region VII.

The complete scope of SDC training is a series of three (3) Tracks. Tracks 2 and 3 are stay-in training which will be conducted tentatively on July 15-20,2019. All those who have attended the Track 1 training are encouraged to attend Track 2 and 3 to be able to complete the entire three-track-courses

Track I of the SDC training covers: Module 1 - Personnel Effectiveness; Module 2 – Supervision; and, Module 3 - Organization Communication.

The general objective of the SDC training is to develop competent and credible civil servants and improved the capabilities of public servants in their areas of work.

The specific objective of SDC training is to enhance the quality of supervisors to ensure sustainability efforts directed toward employee empowerment in the service. It develops supervisory leadership and that to be a successful supervisor, one should not only focus on his/her technical competencies and abilities but also consider the social and psychological aspects of one’s self. Thus, giving the supervisors a chance to improve their management skills.

A supervisor is one of the most important positions in the organization, one that deserves support to ensure success for the organization’s pursuit for excellence. She/he models excellent interpersonal communication; inspires a common vision; demonstrates respect for a diverse community; encourages teamwork and collaboration; and coaches, evaluates and develops people in alignment with the goal of the organization.
