In line with the Livestock and Poultry Information- Early Warning System (LPI-EWS) Project, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office VII (DA-RFO7) in coordination with Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute conducted a Training on Seasonal Adjustment and Missing Data Estimation last November 6-10, 2017 at Cebu Business Hotel, Junquera Street, Cebu City The resource speaker was Associate Professor Genelyn Ma. F. Sarte from the University of the Philippines School of Statistics.
The activity aims to address on concrete and reliable data and information on the situation and outlook of supply and demand of livestock and poultry in the country. In addition, the activity also targets to enhance skills and techniques in analyzing data and trends.
The Philippine Statistics Authority, Regional Statistical Services Office VII (RSSO 7) and the provincial offices of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor were invited to participate the said training together with the representatives coming from Department of Agriculture (DA), Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), Cebu Technological University- Barili Campus (CTU-Barili), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), and the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) who foresee the importance of the Descriptive Analysis of Time-Series, Simple Missing Data Estimation and Seasonal Adjustment.
RSSO 7 was represented by Assistant Statisticians Jean B. Villacensio and Erah Mhay Quiñones and Marvin B. Alit the LPI-EWS staff J.O).
The training enables the participants to learn the classical and modern procedure in estimating missing data and deseasonalizing the data series. The participants undergone a hands on training in which they were tasked to produce a model for their respective datasets and given the opportunities to analyze real data using the software EVIEWS.
