The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office Region 7 conducted an Orientation on Community-based Monitoring System to the Technical Working Group of Social Sector Statistics on May 17, 2022 via online platform. This was attended by the 11 member agencies of TWG-SSS which are the following from Department of Health (DOH), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Commission on Population ( POPCOM),Department of Education (DEPED), department of Labor and Employment (DOLE),Department of Justice (DOJ),Philippine National Police (PNP),Department of Human Settlements Urban Development (DHSUD),Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The said orientation was all about the Community-based Monitoring System, its Implementing Rules and Regulations and also the objectives. The resource speaker of this Orientation on CBMS is the Regional Focal Person of CBMS in the person of Supervising Statistical Specialist Felixberto M.Sato, Jr.
CBMS refers to an organized law of collecting, processing, and validating necessary disaggregated data that maybe used in planning, program implementation, and impact monitoring at the local level while empowering the communities and generating data from the local level which serves as the basis in planning, budgeting implementation of government programs as a tool towards poverty alleviation and economic development.
CBMS objectives were fairly elaborated by the resource speaker. Also, the process in getting the data was expounded to the member agencies.
