16 April 2024 - Siquijor State College, North Poblacion, Larena, Siquijor. The Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) of Siquijor conducted its 2nd quarter meeting for the year 2024 on 16 April 2024 at Siquijor State College, Convention Hall, North Poblacion, Larena, Siquijor. The meeting was presided by the PSC Chairperson and currently the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator/Officer-in-Charge (PPDC/OIC) of Siquijor Province Engr. Jason D. Manos. Presenters and discussants during the provisional agenda were State University and College President II Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator/Officer-in- Charge Engr. Jason D. Manos, PSA-Siquijor Supervising Statistical Specialist/ Officer-in-Charge Engr. Joselito C. Maghanoy, Statistical Specialist II Rizalyn Teodora G. Postrado, Information Officer I Rod Marsel B. Larot, COSW-Information System Analyst I Jerlin R. Macalisang, and COSW-Statistical Analyst Cherry Rose B. Ates.

The meeting was attended by 19 staff or representatives from member-agencies. Represented agencies during the meeting were: Siquijor State College, Provincial Planning and Development Office, Philippine Statistics Authority, Provincial Veterinary Office, Provincial Government Office, Provincial Tourism and Environment Office, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine National Police, Philippine Ports Authority, Office of the Provincial Agriculture, Philippine Information Agency, Department of Public Works and Highways, Siquijor Chamber of Commerce Inc., and the Municipal Planning and Development Offices of Lazi, Larena, and Maria.

Highlighted during the convening were the agenda, to wit:

  3. Housing Characteristics in Siquijor Province

  6. Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) Updates
  7. Upcoming PSA Projects
  8. Presentation of Latest Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) Resolutions

Agendum 1. Dr. Steven J. Sumaylo, SUC President II, presented the SSC  programs, projects, and accomplishments for calendar year 2023-2024. His presentation included enrolment data, operations in higher education programs, advanced education programs, research programs, technical advisory extension programs, support for professional development and capability building, student development programs, and showcased ongoing renovations of the administration office, audio-visual room multimedia laboratory, 4-storey multi-purpose CBM building, function room, gate and guardhouse, liberal arts building (1st & 2nd floors), the completion of the athletic oval, and proposed future projects.

Agendum 2. Engr. Jason D. Manos, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator/Officer-in-Charge (PPDC/OIC) provided an update on the Siquijor Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) 2023-2032. In his presentation, he specifically tackled topics such as population growth, land use, infrastructure development, economic development, environmental development, and social development.

 Agendum 3. Engr. Joselito C. Maghanoy, PSA-Siquijor Supervising Statistical Specialist, presented a breakdown of the Housing Characteristics in Siquijor Province based on the results of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing. This included data on occupied housing units, such as the number of households per unit, materials used for roofs, walls, and floors, number of storeys, state of repair, year built, floor area, and ownership status.

Agendum 4. Ms. Rizalyn Teodora G. Postrado, Statistical Specialist II, updated the committee on the Civil Registration and Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP). In her presentation, she showed the total number of registered vital events (births, marriages, and deaths) in the six municipalities of Siquijor, along with a breakdown of registered births, marriages, and deaths by month. She also explained the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) and provided an update on its status in Siquijor Province.

Ms. Rod Marsel B. Larot, Focal Person of PhilSys provided an update on PhilSys registration. She informed the body that mobile registration for children aged 1-4 has begun in the province. The authentication of 4Ps members during Family Development Sessions is also ongoing. The printing and distribution of PhilIDs/e-PhilIDs are still underway. She emphasized the importance of PhilID and reiterated that the replacement of damaged PhilIDs is now accepted. Information on how to track the national ID and information about PhilSys check was also presented.

Agendum 5. Ms. Jerlin R. Macalisang, Information System Analyst I (COSW) presented the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN)- Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) timetable of activities.

Agendum 6. Ms. Cherry Rose B. Ates, Statistical Analyst (COSW), explained to the committee the data to be collected and its current collection status for the 2024 Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) compilation. She also provided the committee with the PPA's timeline of activities.

Agendum 7. Ms. Rizalyn Teodora G. Postrado, Statistical Specialist II, presented an overview of the 2023 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI 2023) and the 2023 Output Survey of the Philippine Business and Industry (IOSPBI 2023). She also discussed the objectives and uses of these surveys.

Agendum 8. Presentation of the Three (3) Provincial Statistics Committee Resolutions for Approval.
