Central Visayas lodges almost 13 thousand registered deaths in the First Quarter 2019
Region VII reported a total of 12,781 death occurrences in the first quarter of 2019. This contributed to about 8 percent of the 152,688 total registered deaths in the country. Moreover, Central Visayas ranked fifth in terms of number of death occurrence registered. (See Figure 1)
More male deaths than female deaths in Central Visayas
It was noted that there are more male deaths recorded with 7,263 or 57 percent compared to female deaths of only 5,518 or 43 percent of the total registered deaths in the region. (See Figure 2).
Most number of registered deaths in Region VII
Cebu Province recorded the highest number of registered deaths with 4,947 or 39 percent. Second was Negros Oriental with 2,430 or 19 percent, followed by Bohol with 2,408 or 18.8 percent deaths occurrence. Meanwhile, Siquijor had the lowest number of registered deaths with 209 or 1 percent only. On the other hand, for highly urbanized cities, Cebu City had the most number of registered deaths with 1,770 or 13.8 percent, Lapu-lapu City was second with 529 or 4 percent while Mandaue City had only 488 or 3.8 percent of the total deaths registered. Moreover, combined share of this cities was 21.6 percent of the total deaths in the region. (See Figure 3)
Top 5 municipalities with least number of deaths occurrence in Central Visayas
The top five municipalities with least number of deaths in Region VII were: Sikatuna, Corella, Batuan of Bohol. Pilar of Cebu, Enrique Villanueva of Siquijor (See Table 1).
Marriages in Central Visayas First Quarter 2019
Central Visayas recorded a total of 8,515 or 7 percent of the 116,108 registered marriages in the Philippines for the first quarter of 2019. Region VII ranked fifth among the regions in terms of number of marriage occurrences in the country. (See Figure 4)
Highest number of marriages in Central Visayas
Cebu province having the largest population among the provinces in the region accounted 38.1 percent of the total registered marriages in the 1st quarter of 2019. This excludes yet the highly urbanized cities namely, Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City. From among the three highly urbanized cities (HUCs) of Cebu, the City of Cebu had the highest number of recorded marriages with 807 while City of Lapu-Lapu had the least with 371 recorded marriages. (See Figure 5)
