In line with the quarterly survey of household- based statistics, the 2nd Level Training on October 2017 Labor Force Survey was conducted by PSA­ RSSO 7 with its rider survey the October 2017 Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF) last September 26-29, 2017. This is the fourth survey round where in the use of Computer Aided Personal Interviewing (CAPI) was implemented for the LFS. The training was undertaken at the regional office which was participated by the Provincial Focal Person/s (PFP) of each provinces.

The training for CES this round was conducted jointly in the regional office for provinces of Cebu and Bohol only. The regional briefing serves as the provincial training attended by the focal persons and statistical researchers of the two provinces. On the other hand, Bohol Province was not able to hire SR because they were already engaged in other projects/surveys. Instead, regular employees served as enumerators for this round.

The four-day training was facilitated by Mr. Felixberto Sato, Senior Statistical Specialist of RSSO 7 who also attended the Task Force Training on 19-22 September 2017. Mr. Sato discussed on the Field Operations Guidelines and the strategies to be employed to help out the enumeration process. The use of the Computer Aided Data Collection Systems, and concepts was discussed thoroughly as well as how to generate statistical tables using CSPro. The generated tables were used in checking the consistency among the items of LFS questionnaires.

For the CES, it was recommended that for the next survey round questionnaires should have a translation in local dialect. It will be beneficial for the adequate understanding and comprehension of interviewers and respondents for especially in the question for the Inflation rate.
