The Philippine Statistics Authority is currently conducting the 2018 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) together with the Input Output Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (IOSPBI) nationwide. The primary objective of this undertaking is to provide a reliable and updated statistics on the characteristics of business establishments in the country at the level of geographic and industry disaggregation useful for both the government and private sector for their economic and business planning and decision making. The CPBI will collect and generate information on the levels, structure, performance and trends of economic activities of the formal sectors of the economy for the year 2018. It will also serve as benchmark information for the over-all revision and rebasing to 2018 of national account.
The information that we will be collecting are business name, registered name, franchise, business address, contact numbers/address, economic and legal organization, nationality of owner/majority stockholder, main economic activity, total employment, total number of paid employees, total assets in range, year started operation and name and address of main office and parent company, and list of branches, if any.
In this regard, the PSA is enjoining all sample establishments to participate actively on this undertaking by accommodating the PSA Statistical Researchers who will visit their establishments to conduct interview and to provide questionnaires. Under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625 which states that all information collected by this Office will be kept strictly confidential and will not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation. The information collected will be used for statistical purposes only. However under Section 27 of this Act, respondents of primary data collection activities such as censuses and sample surveys are obliged to give truthful and complete answers to statistical inquiries and, any violation of this Act shall result in the imposition of the penalty of imprisonment and a fine.
