Balolang, Larena, Siquijor – In a remarkable display of environmental awareness and community spirit, PSA Siquijor together with other government agencies came together for a simultaneous tree-planting activity organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Siquijor Field Office. The event, held on 25 June 2023, aimed to celebrate the Philippine Arbor Day, and promote Carbon Neutral Program Convergence for more sustainable practices in fostering greener future for the island of Siquijor. For the part of PSA, this also served as one of the activities in line with the PSA 10th anniversary celebration of its milestone as the lead agency in providing relevant and reliable statistics, efficient civil registration services, and inclusive identification system in our country.

As the early morning sun bathed the picturesque landscape of Barangay Balolang, Larena, participants from the various government agencies gathered at the designated site to embark on the tree-planting initiative. Hundreds of Molave Tree seedlings, carefully selected for their adaptability and ecological significance, were distributed among the participants. Armed with the seedlings and various tools for tree planting, the participants set out to make a positive impact on the environment.
The tree planting activity served as a platform to educate the community about the interconnectedness of their actions and the environment. It also served as a catalyst for community bonding, as volunteers shared laughter, stories, and a sense of purpose throughout the activity. The simultaneous tree-planting activity showcased the power of collective action and the potential for positive change when communities come together for a shared cause.
With the success of the tree-planting activity, it is evident that all the volunteers have not only planted trees but also planted hope for a brighter and more sustainable tomorrow as this will paved way to more tree-planting activities and environmental conservation campaigns.
As the seedlings take root and grow, the legacy of this tree-planting event will continue to flourish, reminding future generations of the power of unity, environmental stewardship, and the unwavering commitment to a greener, healthier planet.
