The province of Siquijor has a total of 925 births registered during the months of January to September 2020.  This represents 1.06 percent of Central Visayas’ total registered of 86,614 births registered.  The province of Siquijor is the smallest among the provinces which is comprised of six (6) municipalities.  The province of Cebu being the largest province in the region registered the highest number of births at 35,226, which represents 40.67 percent.  Meanwhile, the provinces of Bohol and Negros Oriental pegged at 15.79 percent and 16.71 percent, respectively.

Among the six (6) municipalities in the province of Siquijor, the Municipality of Siquijor has the most number of births registered at 305, in a span of nine (9) months.  This was followed by Lazi, which is the second largest municipality etched at 188 and San Juan with 152 births.  A total of 104 births were registered in the Municipality of Maria and consistently, the Municipality of Enrique Villanueva has the least number of registered births at 55.

Of the 925 registered births, 481 of which represents the male births while 444 represents the female births.  It is evident enough that male is still dominant during the nine-month period of registered births of the year 2020.

On the other hand, during the nine-month time in the year 2020, the month of June has the number of births and is pegged at 123 births, followed by the months of September and January with 117 and 115 births registered, respectively.  Thus, there are more Gemini babies born this year, in which are smart and very curious.  The month of March has the least number of births registered at 71, as shown in Figure 4.

Enrique Villanueva being the smallest municipality in the province of Siqujor registered the single-digit number of births registered all throughout the period of nine months in the year 2020, as shown in Figure 5.

Meanwhile, Siquijor being the largest among the municipalities in the province consistently has the double-digit number of births registered for the period.

Note:

Figures are results of actual registration without any adjustment of under-registration.  Civil Registration is a continuous process. Hence, there is a need to establish certain cut-off period.  The data presented herein are events occurred from January to September 2020.
