In preparation for the 25th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) Regional Finals slated to be held in Cebu City on November 12, 2019, the Philippine Statistics Authority Siquijor Provincial Office conducted its own provincial elimination round to select the province’s bet to the regional finals.

Prior to the contest proper, various communications were sent to all collegiate schools and the PSQ posters were posted in the five (5) collegiate institutions in the province. Announcement in different colleges in the province were undertaken to elicit maximum participation from all the schools and from among the students in different schools in the province. Various PSQ information materials were also distributed and given to all schools for advance information regarding the annual quiz activity which is jointly organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority and the Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. (PSAI) and other national government agencies.  The memorandum from the office

was also sent to the schools enjoining participation and cooperation from collegiate school in the province along with the letter-invitation from the SuSS/OIC.

The 25th PSQ Siquijor Provincial Elimination round was conducted last November 7, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, a few days before the regional finals.  The contest was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Balite Institute of Technology, Siquijor, Siquijor.  The venue was agreed upon by the committee and upon the approval of the School Director on the request of the office to hold the provincial contest on the said venue.  

Nine (9) contestants have participated during the contest date. They represented Siquijor State College-Main Campus in Larena, Siquijor, Siquijor State College-Lazi Campus in Lazi, Siquijor and Carmelite College in Siquijor. For this year, three out of the five (5) tertiary in the province schools participated in the PSQ.

For the orderly conduct of the elimination round, various committees were created at the provincial office.  Some of the staff of PSA Siquijor Provincial Office were involved in the planning and mobilization of the different committees for the contest.  Among the committees created were the solicitation and prizes, invitation, program and coordination on venue, publicity and the board of judges.

This year, communications were sent also to different partner agencies requesting their participation to the yearly PSQ more specifically inviting them to act as one of the members of the board of judges.  This year, the PSQ Board of Judges for the Provincial Elimination Round is composed of the following: Ms. Neddy G. Arong from the Department of Education (DepEd), who acted as Chairman,  Engr. Mario E. dela Peña of DOST-Siquijor and Mr. Fernando Jose Pescante Jr., Municipal Civil Registrar of Siquijor, Siquijor representing the Civil Registrars Association of Siquijor Province as members.

It was a thrilling match with the questions being administered written and orally.   The contest consisted of two rounds of examinations; the easy round and the difficult round.  After ten questions and based on their scores, the board of judges declared the following as winners:
