Negros Oriental ranked second in the number of registered births
Negros Oriental ranked second in Central Visayas in the total number of registered live births by usual residence of the mother during the second quarter of 2022. There were 4,443 registered live births in the province from April to June of 2022 which translated to 19.0 percent to the total registered live births of Central Visayas during the reference quarter (Figure 1).

Lesser Registered Live Births
The preliminary counts of the number of registered live births by usual residence of mother during the period dropped by 573 births or -11.4 percent from 5,016 record in 2021 to 4,443 in 2022. On the average, there were 49 babies born daily or about two babies born per hour during the second quarter of 2022. April with 1,516 registered births, had the highest registration during the reference quarter (Figure 2).

Twenty-seven deaths per day
Negros Oriental ranked third in Central Visayas in the total number of registered deaths by usual residence of the deceased during the second quarter in 2022. There were 2,469 registered deaths in the province which translated to 19.4 percent to the total registered deaths of the region during the reference quarter. This translated to 27 deaths per day or one in every hour on the average (Figure 3).
More deaths in April
The preliminary counts of the number of registered deaths by usual residence of the deceased during the period rose by 312 deaths or 11.2 percent from 2,781 record in 2021 to 2,469 in 2022. The lowest registration for the quarter was in the month of May with 816 registered deaths while the highest is in the month of April with 832 registered deaths (Figure 4).

Negros Oriental ranked second in Region VII in the number of marriages
Negros Oriental is placed second in Region VII in the total number of registered marriages in the second quarter of 2022. There were 2,415 registered marriages in the province which translated 22.9 percent of the total marriages registered in the region during the second quarter of 2022. This translated to 27 marriages per day or 1 marriage ceremony per hour on the average in the province (Figure 5).

May had the lowest marriage registration
The month of May had the lowest occurrence of marriages during the quarter with only 773 marriage registrations. June was the most popular month for couples to tie the knot with 856 marriage registrations (Figure 6).

The information presented in this special release were the registered births, marriages and deaths which occurred in the province from January to March 2022. The data presented were obtained from the Certificates of Live Birth, Marriage Contract, Certificate of Death and Certificate of Fetal Death that were registered at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars all throughout the province and forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
