The Negros Oriental Provincial Statistical Office, headed by the PSA 07 Regional Director, Engr. Ariel E. Florendo and Chief Statistical Specialist Ariel T. Fortuito, successfully conducted the 2022 PSA-led Community- Based Monitoring System Data Turnover Ceremony to the Local Government Unit of Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental. 

PSA Negros Oriental turned over the local-level data to the Local Chief Executive of Santa Catalina, Hon. Peve O. Ligan on 11 January 2024 at the New Municipal Market Conference Hall, Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental.

The activity was facilitated by SuSS Maria Felida O. Generoso, CBMS Focal Person Harold Roy Infante and some office-based personnel. Present during the activity were the CBMS Core Team Members headed by Ms. Roselyn R. Juanillo, the Local Civil Registrar, Mr. Erwin Pulao, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) OIC, the heads of the different Offices in LGU Santa Catalina, Barangay Captains and other staff in the LGU.

During the activity, CSS Ariel T. Fortuito presented the highlights of the results of the 2022 PSA-led CBMS in Santa Catalina. Hon. Ligan delivered her acceptance message with full of heartfelt gratitude towards her co-workers in the Executive Unit, her staff, members of the CBMS Coordinating Board and to the Philippine Statistics Authority. 

Moreover, the MPDC OIC, Mr. Pulao presented the Plans and Programs to be created and enhanced using the CBMS data. It focused more on the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) updating submitted to PLUC by 2nd quarter of 2024, Forest Land Use Plan updating in 2024, Formulation of the Tourism Master Plan, Conduct Hazard Vulnerability Assessment, Social Welfare and Development related registries and projects, Disaster risk reduction and management, updating of the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture and Fisheries and others.

Last 22 December 2023, PSA Negros Oriental also conducted CBMS Data Turnover Ceremony for seven (7) LGUs in Negros Oriental, namely: San Jose, Amlan, Bindoy, Ayungon, Guihulngan City, Canlaon City, and Bayawan City represented by their Local Chief Executives. 

With the adoption of CBMS, the LGU may now generate updated disaggregated data necessary in targeting beneficiaries, conducting more comprehensive poverty analysis and needs prioritization, designing appropriate policies and interventions and monitoring impact over time.
