The day we chose was a Friday, the 20th of September in the year 2019 as the day for this year’s edition of our tree planting activity. We came to our usual “suki” planting site, the Sikatuna Tree Park. We were all clad in our velvet polo shirts.
First we checked in at the park’s makeshift receiving area. Each of us was given strips of red plastic where we wrote our names and the name of the plant species that we were supposed to plant. This year we planted tree species called Guiho, Narig and Chapoy. With our saplings in one hand and the strip of red plastic on the other we were directed by park staff to proceed to the designated planting area located at the western side of the park. On our way towards the site, we passed by saplings that were almost a meter tall. We realized that these were the little ones that we planted last year. A glimpse of these little ones that we had a hand last year gave a sense of fulfilment of every tree’s purpose.
As we arrived at the planting site I found the perfect spot where the new little tree in my hand can begin its new life. I searched for landmarks so that I will not forget the exact spot when we come back next year as part of team PSA Bohol’s commitment in helping mother earth. We hope you all will join us.
