The Philippine Statistics Authority, Siquijor Provincial Statistical Office headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Aurelia M. Canda participated in the first ever National Convention on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (1NCCRVS) on 1-3 September 2021 via video conferencing in two (2) clusters and other stakeholders joined through facebook livestream.  Cluster 1 in the provincial office was composed of PSA, Siquijor personnel while Cluster 2 in E.I. Suites was joined in by the Municipal Civil Registrars in the province.

The conduct of the event was in line with the Presidential Proclamation No 1106 s.2015 dated 20 August 2015 declaring the years 2015 to 2024 as Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Decade in the Philippines, with the theme “Strengthening Civil Registration and Vital Statistics’ Digital Information: The Ways to Manage the New Normal,” directed towards the universal civil registration of vital events to ensure the production of accurate, complete and timely vital statistics.

The 1NCCRVS primarily aimed to inform its participants about the recent developments on civil registration and vital statistics in the country amidst the pandemic.  Specifically, it seeks to: (1) provide knowledge on civil registration concepts, procedures, laws, policy issuances; (2) share best practices, experiences, and ideas on civil registration; (3) enhance data appreciation for vital statistics; and (4) provide updates on Solemnizing Officers and Information System (SOIS), Civil Registration System Information Technology Project II (CRS-ITP2), and the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Registration.  Thus, it is the best avenue to renew the stakeholders' commitment and to continue working hand-in-hand in the realization of the goals and targets of the CRVS Decade 2015 to 2024.

CSS Canda was grateful for the support extended through the participation and cooperation from the Local Civil Registrars, Solemnizing Officers and other stakeholders in the province in this three-day activity.
