On July 18, 2024, the LGU Larena SB Session Hall in North Poblacion, Larena, Siquijor, served as the venue for a crucial assembly of the Provincial 2024 POPCEN-CBMS Coordinating Board. The board, chaired by Provincial Governor Jake Vincent S. Villa, was represented at the meeting by Vice-chairperson Engr. Joselito C. Maghanoy. Engr. Maghanoy, who also serves as the (Supervising Statistical Specialist) Officer-in-Charge of PSA-Siquijor, presided over the convening, marking a significant step in advancing local development through enhanced data monitoring initiatives.

The convening, well-attended by heads and representatives from various sectors, focused on key agenda items presented by Ms. Jill Bernadette C. Abing, Senior Statistical Specialist of PSA-Siquijor and the designated Focal Person for the 2024 Population Census and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS).

The discussions underscored the importance of CBMS in gathering localized data crucial for effective policy formulation and development planning. The presentations provided insights into how CBMS can enhance decision-making processes and promote inclusive growth across communities in Siquijor.

 

The PCCB reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging data-driven approaches to address socio-economic challenges and ensure sustainable development in the province. The gathering concluded with a consensus on prioritizing collaborative efforts among government agencies, LGUs, and community stakeholders to further advance the implementation of CBMS initiatives in Siquijor.
