The picturesque of St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church in Siquijor became the setting for a momentous occasion on 07 September 2024 as the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Siquijor hosted a Free Mass Wedding, also known as “Kasalan ng Bayan”. This special event was held in conjunction with the 52nd Araw ng Bayan celebration. The Kasalan ng Bayan, held in the solemn and beautiful setting of St. Francis of Assisi Parish Church, was marked by a ceremony filled with warmth and affection. Couples exchanged vows and signed their marriage certificates, making their commitments official in front of their family, friends, and community members.

The Free Mass Wedding, a significant community initiative, saw a total of 27 couples come together to formalize their unions in a beautiful and touching ceremony. The morning session featured twenty-one (21) pairs, while the afternoon ceremony included six (6) pairs from the Siquijor Police Provincial Office.

The Philippine Statistics Authority, Siquijor Provincial Statistical Office headed by SuSS/OIC Joselito C. Maghanoy witnessed the event, together with SS II Rizalyn Teodora G. Postrado, RO I John Claude Dag-uman, and Unisys Associate Diana Rose Balongag as the office assisted with the signing of the Marriage Certificates of the couples. Their efforts ensured that each couple’s union was officially and ceremoniously recognized.

Regional Director Ariel E. Florendo, alongside his wife, also shared in the joy of the occasion. His presence not only added a touch of regional importance but also reflected the broader support for local community events.

As the ceremony concluded, couples, their families, and attendees gathered for a celebratory reception, enjoying a festive atmosphere that reflected the spirit of the day. The success of the Free Mass Wedding highlighted the importance of community support and the shared celebration of love and commitment.
