1. Philippines
The country’s inflation rate has increased from 6.1 percent in June 2022 to 6.4 percent in July 2022. This was the highest recorded inflation since December 2018. In July of the previous year, inflation was lower at 3.7 percent. (Table 1)
2. Central Visayas Region
The inflation rate in Central Visayas has increased to 6.9 percent in July 2022 from 5.7 percent in June 2022. In July 2021, inflation in the region was at 1.5 percent. (Table 1)
3. Negros Oriental

The province’s inflation rate has increased from 5.3 percent on June 2022 to 6.2 percent in July 2022. In July of the previous year, inflation was lower at 3.8 percent. (Figure 1)

The following commodity groups contributed to the upward trend of the inflation during the month of July 2022 compared to the previous month:
Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, 8.6 percent from 6.5 percent;
Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance, 4.0 percent from 2.8 percent;
Recreation, Sport and Culture, 1.4 percent from 0.2 percent;
Health, 1.9 percent from 1.1 percent;
Clothing and Footwear, 0.3 percent from 0.0;
Personal Care, and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, 0.4 percent from 0.1 percent; and
Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, 1.1 percent from 1.0 percent.

On the contrary, inflation rate was lower for Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 4.8 percent from 5.1 percent and Transport at 15.2 percent from 15.7 percent. (Figure 3)

Four commodity groups retained their previous month’s inflation rates and these were: Restaurants and Accommodation Services at -0.4 percent; Information and Communication, Education, and Financial Services at 0.0 percent. (Figure 4)
