The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Negros Oriental Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) conducted National ID Registration in Canlaon City Evacuation Centers to register evacuees affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon. Such activity is in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Canlaon City through the Office of the Local Civil Registrar. The conduct of National ID registration started on 19 December 2024 to 21 December 2024, but may still continue until the end of the year if necessary.
As the primary proof of identity, the National ID is a very important document especially to those individuals who are beneficiaries of the social protection programs of the Government. With the recent eruption of Mt. Kanlaon that affected several families in Canlaon City, PSO Negros Oriental received reports that many evacuees are having issues in claiming government assistance due to lack of a valid proof of identity. With this, the office immediately acted to address this concern, sending National ID personnel to Canlaon City.
Aside from National ID registration, the National ID team also printed and issued National ID in paper form for those registrants who are yet to receive their National ID card. They also catered requests for retrieval of lost Transaction Reference Numbers and assisted registrants in accessing their digital National ID.
