For the year 2020, in the four provinces of Region VII, with an overall total of registered births of 128,152, Cebu City rank as 1st in all other provinces with the highest number of registered birth records reaching to 86,364. This is followed by Negros Oriental in which it reported 21,271 registered births and Bohol with 19,210 registered births. With only 1,307 registered births in the year 2020, Siquijor province had the lowest number of births records reported. (See figure I)

 

On the other hand, Siquijor Province contributed 1.01% or 1,307 of the total registered births of Region VII which is 128,152. There are more male births were accounted to 684 while 623 are females. (See figure 2)

 

Furthermore, of the 1,307 registered births in Siquijor province the municipality of Siquijor had the highest number of births by sex and by mother's habitual residence, with 223 male and 200 female births. The municipality of Lazi comes in second with 278 total registered births, with 154 males and 124 females, followed by the municipality of San Juan with 221 total registered births, 121 males and 100 females, and the municipality of Larena with 157 total registered births, 81 males and 76 females. Furthermore, the municipality of Maria has 146 registered births, 70 of which are male and 76 are female. Finally, Enrique Villanueva's municipality has 82 registered births, 35 are male and 47 are female. (see figure 3 & 4)

 

Moreover, in terms of number of registered births by months. The municipality of Siquijor still have the highest number of registered births of a 423. The month of June marked the highest month of birth registration at 48 while the month of April with 20 birth registration recorded as the lowest. The municipality of Lazi recorded 278 birth registration. The month of February recorded the highest number of birth registration accounting to 35 birth registration, while the municipality of San Juan had 221 recorded birth registration, of which November mark as the highest with 28 and 11 for February as the lowest. The municipality of Larena has 157, as May recorded the least at 20 birth registration while there is only 6 in the month of March. Furthermore, the municipality of Maria recorded 146 birth registration, in which January is the highest with 18 birth registrations and March as lowest with 8 birth registration. Lastly the municipality of Enrique Villanueva that has only 82 birth registration the lowest in all municipalities, 3 for July and 11 for October. (See figure 5)

Vital statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register.

Vital acts and events are the births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages, and all such events that have something to do with an individual's entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime. Recording of these events in the civil register is known as vital or civil registration and the resulting documents are called vital records.
