PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) mobile registration started on June 9, 2022. The Municipal Registrar’s Office-Siquijor and PSO- Siquijor were eager to undertake the kick off of PBRAP mobile registration at Songculan, Siquijor, Siquijor at exactly 9 a.m.
The mobile registration was headed by the very dynamic Municipal Civil Registrar of the Municipality of Siquijor Mr. Fernando Jose A. Pescante Jr., MCRO staff Mr. Jonriel Ates. Also present in the PBRAP mobile registration kickoff was RO II Rizalyn Teodora G. Postrado together and Brgy. Captain Russel P. Jaictin who was also excited in the program as this will help his constituents get social benefits.
Despite the heavy rains, the individuals on the list for birth registration came to the Brgy. Hall of Songculan, Siquijor to have their birth registered. The youngest was an 8 year-old boy who wants his birth registered so he can go to school. The oldest was a 62-year-old man who understands the importance of having his birth registered because without it he cannot acquire his senior citizen’s ID, a requirement for social pensions for indigents.
MCR Fernando Jose A. Pescante emphasized the significance of having a birth certificate because it establishes a person's date of birth, how it will be used to authenticate a person's identity and nationality, and how it will allow seniors to obtain their senior citizen's ID as a requirement for social pension, for poor and families whose financial situation is below the poverty threshold to qualify for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
