The Philippine Statistics Authority is enjoining all agencies of the government, local government units, academic institutions, state universities and colleges, and the private sector at the national and subnational levels to actively participate in and support the 30^th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in October 2019.

Pursuant to the Presidential Proclamation No. 647, “Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month,” the NSM is annually observe nationwide. The NSM aims to: (a) promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation on the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and (b) elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.

This October NSM celebration will carry the theme “Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation.” The theme highlights the importance of innovating statistical systems, processes and technologies in coming up with quality statistics – statistics that will be used by data users, especially planners, policymakers and program implementers who are in the best position to  shape the future of the country and of its people.  With better policies and programs based on quality statistics that are produced through effective innovations, the Filipino people will be assured of the achievement of the country’s long-term vision of a simple and comfortable life for all. One of the biggest activities of this 30^th NSM Celebration is the 14^th National Convention on Statistics (NCS) on October 1-3, 2019 at Crown Plaza Manila Galleria. The event will be graced by VP Leni Robredo and NEDA Secretary Ernesto Pernia.

With this, the PSA is encouraging the local government units, national government agencies and the general public to participate in the celebration of the 30^th NSM nationwide. Several lined-up activities to the month-long celebration includes: press/media forum, radio program guest and interview, conduct of statistical/trivia quiz, essay writing and slogan & poster making contest, lecture and info dissemination, film showing and statistical exhibits among others.
