The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office VII (PSA RSSO VII) has achieved a significant milestone, registering over 6.8 million individuals in Central Visayas for the National ID system. This represents a 97.8% accomplishment of its 7 million registration target for 2024.
As of 30 June 2024, a total of 6,888,186 Filipinos in the region have been successfully registered for the National ID system. Cebu leads with 4,356,932 registrations, followed by Negros Oriental (1,243,816), Bohol (1,191,348), and Siquijor (96,090).
Meanwhile, PSA is committed to maintaining the continuous issuance of National IDs for use as valid proof of identity and age in transactions. In Region VII, a total of 4,412,780 National ID cards were already issued and delivered to the registrants. In addition, 2,390,047 National ID papers have also been issued.
PSA has also recently launched the Digital National ID, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). It is the official digital version of the National ID, accessible via computers or smartphones. Just like any other format of the National ID, it can be presented as valid and sufficient proof of identity in various transactions in government offices and private institutions, subject to authentication.
National ID registration remains ongoing in Central Visayas, with the latest initiative focusing on registering children aged 1 to 4. This ensures inclusive and secure identification for all Filipinos, regardless of age. PSA provides convenient and accessible registration through walk-ins at designated registration centers nationwide (locations listed at https://philsys.gov.ph/registration-center/) or through mobile registration teams in the provinces to offer everyone the opportunity to be registered to the National ID.
Being registered to the National ID system provides Filipinos with a valid proof of identity and age, simplifying access to government services, financial transactions, and social protection programs.
