PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PhilBRAP) will be implemented in the country to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs). This project also supports the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Decade (CRVS) 2015- 2024 campaign in improving civil registration. In conformity with this, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) supports this project and has signed a Memorandum of Agreement in each Local Chief Executive of the six (6) municipalities in the province of Siquijor. 

The Birth Registration Assistance Project of the province of Siquijor aims to register the 599 estimated unregistered births of the province. Thus, the project provides assistance in processing delayed birth registration, processing of out-of-town registration of births, verify from the PSA Civil Registry System’s database through the issuance of Omnibus Certification and implement the Philippine Civil Registry Information System (PhilCRIS) in mobile registrations.

The smooth implementation and success of this project rely on the support of the Local Government Units and the key government officials of the province. Hence, PSA Siquijor PSO also meets with the barangay Chairmen and discusses strategies on how to achieve the goal.  PSA is pleased to report that the Barangay Chairmen are enthusiastic about the project, as it provides them with another opportunity to assist their constituents in obtaining legal identification and eventually enrolling in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys). PhilBRAP, in line with the CRVS Decade 2015-2024 goals of providing universal registration of vital events helps facilitate the realization of each Filipinos right to claim legal identity, consequently providing everyone access to essential services such as health care, education and social protection.
