PSA-Siquijor organizes the 2022 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Roadshow
Republic Act No. 11315, also known as the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Act, mandates the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as the lead agency in the implementation of the CBMS in generating updated and disaggregated data for policies and programs at the national and local levels to alleviate poverty and promote socio-economic development. This August 2022, the PSA-led CBMS commenced in selected cities and municipalities across the country. Given the wide coverage of the implementation, the Information, Education, and Communications (IEC) campaign is deemed vital in increasing the awareness and knowledge on CBMS and its advocacy, targeting the would-be respondents to participate in this statistical activity.
One of the strategies to realize the support and participation of the general public is through the conduct of the 2022 CBMS Roadshow. The 2022 CBMS Roadshow was a dedicated campaign initiative for the promotion of the CBMS operations. It was joint activity among the PSA, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and all Local Government Units (LGUs) implementing the CBMS in their respective localities. Through this initiative, it aimed to secure a stronger support and higher participation rate from each household residing in the locality during the data collection phase of the 2022 CBMS operations.
As part of the 2022 CBMS National Rollout, PSA-Siquijor conducted the CBMS Roadshow on August 8, 2022 at the four participating 5th class municipalities, namely San Juan, Larena, Enrique Villanueva and Maria. The Roadshow started with a short program after the flag raising ceremony in each municipality. The Municipal Mayor, together with his/her respective Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) and Statistician, declared the official start of the CBMS operations in their municipality. Hired CBMS personnel led in dancing the CBMS Jingle. In addition, LGOO VI Kurt Philip T. Matas, CBMS focal person of DILG Siquijor Provincial Office, announced the official start of the 2022 CBMS operations at Siquijor Provincial Capitol during their short program after the flag raising ceremony.
After the short program, touring around the major roads of the participating municipalities while playing the official CBMS Jingle was done. Stopovers were made especially at the sample barangays, where CBMS will be operationalized, with a great volume of residents to interact with the would-be respondents while giving the CBMS flyers, brochures and primers.
