A. Vital Events

In 2022, Bohol had a total of 8,655 registered live births as of 31 October. The number of males slightly exceeded the number of females, with 4,505 males compared to 4,150 females. For registered number of deaths, there were more male deaths with 3,435 compared to female deaths with 2,824. In the same duration, Bohol had a total of 4,006 marriages, just shy of 1,540 from reaching the grand total of 5,546 marriages in 2021 . (Table)

B. Population

Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), Bohol had a total population of 1,390,524, of which 707,896 males outnumbered 682,628 females. Among the 47 municipalities and one city in the province, Tagbilaran City had the highest population of males with 51,165, followed by Ubay with 41,792, and Talibon with 36,135. At the other end of the spectrum, Sikatuna had the lowest male population with 3,497.

The same pattern was also reflected among females. The top three city/municipalities with the highest population of females were also Tagbilaran City with 52,137, followed by Ubay with 39,850, and Talibon with 34,967. The municipality with the lowest female population was also Sikatuna with 3,409. (Table 2)

C. Health

COVID-19

As of 30 September 2022, Bohol accumulated a total of 23,781 COVID-19 positive cases, which were comprised of 12,565 females and 11,216 males. In 2020, on the onset of the pandemic and travel restrictions in and out of the country, Bohol had a record of 814 positive cases, of which 319 were females and 495 were males. Despite a series of community quarantines and lockdowns, COVID-19 positive cases in Bohol drastically increased to 19,183 in 2021, of which 10,107 were females and 9,076 were males. (Table 3)

PhilHealth

As of December 2022, Bohol had a total of 741,793 individuals registered with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or more commonly known as PhilHealth. It is a Government Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC) created through the National Health Insurance (NHI) Act of 1995 and a social security institution that provides health insurance coverage to Filipinos. Males constituted the highest number of members at 376,636 compared to females at 365,157. Among the Direct Contributors, females came out on top with 180,278 compared to males with 171,954. On the other hand, for Indirect Contributors, 184,879 females trailed behind 204,682 males. (Table 4)

D. Peace and Order

Police Force

Bohol had a total of 1,995 police personnel as of December 2022, of which 1,526 were males and 481 were females. The Provincial Headquarters had the highest number of personnel for both sexes, with 120 males and 68 females. The police stations at the municipalities of Pres. Carlos P. Garcia and Alburquerque had the lowest number of female personnel with four (4) each, while the police station at Sikatuna had the lowest number of male personnel with 14. (Table 5)

Violence Against Women

In Bohol, cases of Violence Against Women (VAW) steadily decreased from 2020 to 2022. The number of offences was recorded at 146 in 2022, which was a significant decline from 426 in 2021 (a difference of 280 cases) and an even greater drop from 829 in 2020 (a difference of 683 cases). From 2020 to 2022, among the city/municipalities, Tagbilaran City had the greatest number of VAW cases with 174, followed by Talibon with 90 and Ubay with 76. San Isidro and Sikatuna both had the lowest number of VAW case with one (1) each. (Table 6)

Based on the same period, the top five (5) classifications of offence for VAW in Bohol were Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 - RA 9262 with 1,247 cases, Anti-Rape Law of 1997 - RA 8353 with 58 cases, Acts of Lasciviousness - RPC Art. 336 with 54 cases, Rape - RPC Art. 266-A with 24 cases, and Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 - RA 7877 with five (5) cases. (Table 7)

Fire-Fighting Force

As of September 2022, Bohol had a total of 589 fire-fighting personnel, which was composed of 442 males and 147 females. Only the municipality of Duero had no record of personnel because the municipality had no fire station. If the one (1) male officer in the Fire Officers Advance Course and the seven (7) male officers in the Fire Junior Leadership Course were to be considered, Bohol would have a total of 589 personnel.

Tagbilaran City Fire Station had the largest fire-fighting force in Bohol at 50, with 40 males and 10 females. This was followed by Panglao at 25 with 21 male and 4 female personnel, and Tubigon at 22 with 15 male and 7 female personnel. The Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal located in Tagbilaran City also had 22 fire-fighting personnel, with 13 male and 9 female personnel. Balilihan and Buenavista both had the smallest fire-fighting force at seven (7), with each municipality having five (5) male and two (2) female personnel. (Table 8)

E. Registered Voters

In Bohol, there were more female registered voters with 478,873 (50.4 percent) compared to male registered voters with 470,918 in the national and local elections on 09 May 2022. These numbers covered the regular voters or the 18-year-old and above age group.

Based on the 01 August 2022 Election Registration Board Hearing, females still registered with the highest number of voters with 486,944 (50.5 percent) compared to males with 479,218. For Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), which covered voters within the 15 to 17-year-old age group, the trend remained the same with 22,702 female registered voters compared to 21,061 male registered voters.
