“The 2019 World Survey on the Role of Women and Development has recognized the role of information technology as an enabler for women’s participation in social and economic development.”  Hence, this very first Women and ICT Development Index (WIDI) survey is conducted to provide an in-depth study specifically on all female sample household members 15 years old and over and their use of ICT and the internet.  The survey also “aims to provide an added dimension in women’s participation in the Digital Economy by providing data on workforce participation in employment, livelihood, and entrepreneurship using ICTs and online digital platforms.”

Overall objectives of the WIDI survey are as follows; to obtain data on ICT access of women and girls, to indicate extent of ICT use for education, employment, livelihood and entrepreneurship using ICTs and the online digital platform.  Lastly, to obtain data that can be used for ICT planning and policy-making focused on women and girls.

With the 3rd Level Training conducted last 23-28 January 2022 the survey is now on its 2nd phase which is the field enumeration.  Hired Statistical Researchers with their computer tablets are visiting the 387 sample households located in 17 municipalities and 28 barangays in the province.

All PSA hired statistical researchers during the conduct of field interviews are instructed to always wear and show their PSA identification cards and observe health safety protocols.  PSA would like to assure our survey respondents that all information that they have entrusted to us will be treated as confidential and therefore cannot be used for purposes other than the objectives of the survey.
