The Philippine Statistics Authority – Region 7 (PSA 7) was hailed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) as one of its Outstanding Partners for 2018 in this year’s Awards Ceremony and Appreciation Lunch for BSP Stakeholders in Region VII at the Banking Hall, BSP Cebu Regional Office, Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City on 7 August 2018.

PSA 7 was chosen as the region’s Outstanding Partner for the Report on Regional Economic Developments in the Philippines under the Sources of Information Category. This is PSA 7’s third award for the same category, having been given the same recognition in 2015 and 2016. The award was given to institutions and organizations that provide BSP with information in support of its statistical undertakings, advocacy programs, and efforts to ensure effective delivery of its functions that may help in setting its projections and in crafting its policies.

Receiving the award was the Regional Director of PSA 7, Engr. Ariel E. Florendo. The awards ceremony was led by Assistant Governor Iluminada T. Sicat of BSP Regional Operations Sub-Sector together with the head of BSP Department of Economics, Mr. Redentor Paolo M. Alegre, Jr. and Director Leonides B. Sumbi of BSP Cebu Regional Office.

Twelve other awardees in Central Visayas include the First Consolidated Bank, Inc. as the Outstanding Respondent among Large and Medium Firms and the Kenko Tokina Slik Corporation as the Outstanding Respondent among Small Firms, both for the Business Expectations Survey; the Bank of the Philippine Islands – Cebu Main Branch (Cebu Regional Office) and 96.7 Bai Radio DYEM FM & Negros Chronicle (Dumaguete Branch) as the Outstanding Regional Partners for Clean Note Policy; the Lee Super Plaza (Dumaguete Branch) as Outstanding Regional Partner for Coin Circulation; the Philippine Information Agency – Negros Oriental (Dumaguete Branch) and  DYAB-Cebu (Cebu Regional Office) as the Outstanding Regional Partners for the Demonetization of the New Design Series; the Department of Education Cebu City Division  (Cebu Regional Office) and Department of Education Siquijor Division (Dumaguete Branch) as the Outstanding Regional Partners for Implementing BSP Advocacy on the Conduct of Public Information Campaigns; the University of Cebu – Main Campus (Cebu Regional Office) and Negros Oriental State University (Dumaguete Branch) as Outstanding Regional Partners for Knowledge Resource Network; and the Cebu Credit Surety Fund as the Outstanding Credit Surety Fund. Each awardee received the “Dynamic Balance, Philippine Eagle” trophy crafted by visual artist and multi-awarded sculptor, Mr. Ferdinand Cacnio.

With the theme “Reinforcing Partnerships, Defying New Challenges,” the 2018 awards ceremony in Region VII embodies the successful alliances that have helped the BSP with the attainment of its mandate.
