Philippine Statistics Authority Conducts Third Level Training for 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Siquijor Provincial Statistical Office, in response to Executive Order No. 352 which gives authority to conduct Census of Agriculture and Fisheries every ten years to provide data for government planners and policymakers to base their plans for the country’s development, PSA Siquijor conducts the Municipal Level Training on 2022 Census of Agriculture and Fisheries. The trainers were divided in to two clusters; wherein cluster 1 facilitates the hired personnel from the municipalities of Siquijor, Larena and Enrique Villanueva with a total of 29 delegates while cluster 2 facilitates the personnel from the municipalities of Lazi, Maria and San Juan with a total of 37 delegates.

The census enumerator plays a vital role to ensure the success of the 2022 CAF, particularly the fullness of census coverage and accuracy of the data collected. As this training will ensure the quality of the enumerators to be assigned on the field to gather census information that is accurate, complete and strictly in accordance with the instructions, concepts, and definitions of the manual.

2022 CAF aims to determine the number of households and household members who are engaged in agricultural, aquaculture and fishing activities and the number of operators under the same roof, gathers legal status under each operation, determine the type of agricultural activity performed, obtain comprehensive data on the characteristics of agricultural farms, collect data about the purpose of the aquaculture activity, obtain detailed characteristics of the fishing operation, gather the data regarding on the machineries and equipment used in agricultural, aquaculture and fishing operation; all these objective are highlighted during the training period.

The CAF Field Personnel are then introduced to the data collection method to be used for this undertaking which is the Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) method wherein every enumerator and team supervisor is entitled to use and care for the device (tablet) to be used upon data collection. The ways on how to take care of the device and their accountability are also tackled in the earlier part of the training.
