Annual Reports in the public sector have been promoted as a key mechanism to discharge accountabilities to stakeholders. It has been assumed that the annual report is valuable in discharging accountabilities for all stakeholders in each of the different types of public sector agencies. Further, the value of the public sector annual report is intertwined with notions of their quality. The value of the annual report rests in the provision of a wide range of summarized, relevant information in a single document, which enables all stakeholders to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the agency’s objectives, mandate, and performance in financial and non-financial terms.

To produce a comprehensive and quality regional annual report with provincial highlights and capacitate members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the 2020 PSA Central Visayas Annual Report in terms of writing a quality report, a regional writeshop was conducted by Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office VII (PSA RSSO VII).

Regional Director Ariel Florendo encouraged all participants to concentrate on the writeshop. “I am happy that we have this 2020 Annual Report Regional Writeshop for the first time to produce a quality report”, Director Florendo said in his short message during the opening of the writeshop.

The writeshop highlighted the review of the 2019 Annual Report, discussions on the elements of a good annual report, common errors in writing and photography, how to write news articles, and basic photography. Participants were made to write articles of the activities, projects, and programs conducted last year during the workshop. Outputs of the workshop were presented, and all participants were made to comment and critic their write-ups.

The 2020 Annual Report Regional Writeshop was held on 10 to 12 March 2021 where participants were physically present at different venues in their respective provinces connected through virtual platform. The entire writeshop was facilitated by Peter E. Enfestan, Information Systems Analyst I of PSA RSSO VII.
