The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) — Negros Oriental Provincial Statistical Office conducted the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Registration Step 2 Provincial 3rd Level Training, a three-day training, scheduled 17 to 19 of January 2022. This is in preparation to the upcoming 2022 PhilSys registration step 2 operations in the province.

This activity was participated by all registration step 2 personnel, such as Registration Center Supervisors, Registration Kit Operators, Screeners and Alternates, who will be deployed to registration centers throughout the whole province of Negros Oriental. The training was simultaneously carried out in two venues, La Limar Resort in the municipality of La Libertad and Hotel Essencia in the city of Dumaguete. The one conducted in La Limar Resort was attended by Negros Oriental District 1 teams, whereas Hotel Essencia catered District 2 and 3 teams.

The objective of this training is to provide the registration teams updates on the guidelines and policies that should be imposed during the conduct of PhilSys step 2 registration on their respective assigned municipalities. In addition, this also aims to discuss the challenges encountered in the previous year (2021) as well as tackle the plans and adjustments to be applied in this year’s operations. The plans presented will help the registration teams address some of the issues they encountered during the 2021 operations.

In Negros Oriental, PhilSys personnel is composed of 14 registration teams assigned in 14 registration centers located in selected cities/municipalities in the province. The whole operation is supervised by Chief Statistical Specialist, Engr. Ariel T. Fortuito; Supervising Statistical Specialist, Ma. Felida O. Generoso. Meanwhile, each District is also closely supervised by the following Area Focal Persons, SSII Harold Roy V. Infante (District 1), SSII Alberto M. Girasol (District 2) and Asst. Statistical Analyst Really May Alcantara (District 3).

Nine registration teams handling 28 registration kits are expected to begin its operations on January 24, 2022. While, 5 registration teams handling 15 registration kits, mostly assigned in District 1, will not be able to start in the 24th of January 2022 due to unavailability of electricity in most barangays caused by Typhoon Odette. But these teams will commence the operation as soon as the status of the municipalities improve.

The PSA assures the public that PhilSys personnel will adhere to the minimum health protocol set by each local IATF in order to avoid the spread of Covid 19. Hence, we invite and encourage every Filipino to go to the nearest PhilSys registration centers and register now with PhilSys.
